Holidays in Term Time
Many schools in B&NES are running a zero tolerance approach to requests to take children out of school in term time i.e. Headteachers are not authorising any requests for time out in term time! There is pressure on our local schools to also take this line. However, we are resisting this as we feel that in general East Harptree parents are, in the main, extremely sensible, tacking holiday requests on to the beginning or end of school holidays or weekends. Our school has the best record in the Chew Valley when it comes to holiday form requests, and I am hoping that this will continue. A request to take children out of school for up to 10 days is at the discretion of the Headteacher and not as a right. Holiday forms must be requested from the Headteacher.
